Resources
Welcome to the Hi-Q resource section. Here you can download a very useful MODAF Crib Sheet and also use a MODAF to TOGAF mapping

MODAF Crib sheet
As an enabler for managing complexity, MODAF provides a specification of how to represent an integrated model of an enterprise, from the business and operational aspects to the systems that provide capability, together with appropriate standards and programmatic aspects.

MODAF is made up of 6 View Points which, together, contain some 37 Views. Due to their number it can be difficult to remember what each View is called and what it achieves. To address this Hi-Q has created a 2 sided crib-sheet which documents the name and purpose of each of the Views.

Download the crib sheet and insert it into you logbook or plasticise it then use it as a reference when discussing MODAF in meetings or writing your reports.

Model Driven requirements presentation
The systems engineering community sees Model Driven Design as key to the future of systems engineering.  There has also been much interest about supporting Requirements definition and derivation using various modelling approaches. This paper defines a vision of an integrated architecture that supports the Requirements at both User and System levels, while allowing different modelling techniques to be used for the same architectural products.

MODAF to TOGAF Mapping
The MoD Architectural Framework (MODAF) provides a rigorous way to present an Enterprise Architecture by defining a set of common viewpoints and views underpinned by a common metamodel. Although MODAF was created by the defence sector, it is equally applicable to any business or other organisation. The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) is a detailed method and set of tools for developing an Enterprise Architecture.

NATO has adopted the MODAF Metamodel (M3) as the basis of the NATO Architecture Framework (NAF) and is adding new views which include a number of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) views. A summary of these proposed views can be found on the modaf.com web site

It has been recognised that TOGAF and MODAF can be looked upon as a pair of complementary Architecture Frameworks. MODAF provides a structure for the visualisation of an Enterprise Architecture (the What) and TOGAF provides a process for developing an Enterprise Architecture (the How).

Along with the additional upcoming NAF SOA views these architecture frameworks provide a powerful set of tools for bringing clarity of understanding and a single point of truth to all aspects of an enterprise.

The following MODAF to TOGAF mapping is heavily based upon
DODAF and TOGAF mapping recently undertaken by the Open Group which documents the mapping between the DOD Architectural Framework (DODAF) and TOGAF.
